About Us

DITTON MINORS FOOTBALL CLUB

1968 saw Ditton establish it's first ever grassroots community football team, 50 years on we are very proud to have over 18 teams with players ranging from ages 3 through to Mens. We continue to receive much appreciated and great support from Ditton Parish Council as well as valuable local support, leaving us in the fortunate position of being able to use the Ditton Community Centre. With the help of local businesses, the Club has grown and now partakes in regular community based fundraising and activities to support the local area.

As a community football club, we rely heavily on the generosity of our sponsors to help keep costs down. The only income the Club has is from the player's registration fees annually which we aim to keep as minimal as possible.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN

I am very proud of the Club we are today, having experienced some turbulent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Club has survived and come out fighting stronger than ever before. As a Club we have over 18 teams, and pride ourselves on providing football to all ages from our local community. Run by our hard working volunteers, we are an England Football Accredited club with the second highest level of accreditation available nationally - something we are extremely proud of. This Accreditation is only provided to Clubs who have high quality football experience, long-term development and Club plans, comprehensive processes and policies whilst also ensuring all volunteers have the required qualifications.

Being a significant part of the local community is one of our main objectives and we pride ourselves on the representation we give to Ditton, where possible helping to support the local area. For example, our Defibrillator campaign was a huge success, united local residents for a common aim and provided much needed emergency medical provision should it be required.

One of my priorities as Chairman is to keep the cost of being in the Club, and subsequently partaking in local sport, as minimal as possible and I'm pleased that over the past 10 years we have only had to increase the registration fee by £10 per annum - making football an affordable sport for local children and adults.

I am extremely grateful to all of the volunteers, like myself and the executive committee, who work so hard to run the club. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure that all of the necessary requirements are met, including affiliation, accreditation, qualifications and administration (ensuring pitches are ready, equipment maintenance etc). There's a lot more to it than just attending training and matches once a week! There's countless meetings, messages and planning that goes into running a team and the club! It is a thankless task!

We're always on the look out for new volunteers, so if you've got a skill that could help the club, or willing to work hard for a great cause, then please do let me know, or take a look at our 'Get Involved' page for volunteering, it's a rewarding use of your time!

How do the Club finances work?

As a Club, we have a Treasurer who is responsible for ensuring that all money that belongs to the Club and teams is kept safe and produces the Club accounts. The Club maintains a number of bank accounts and money is held in individual budgets that belong to either the Club, Fundraising or individual Teams. To minimize the risk of fraud, no team is permitted to manage a separate bank account - all fees go straight to the Club and are handled by the treasurer.

In order to maintain transparency, please see below some examples of where money comes from, and what it goes towards:

Annual Registration Fees | Club

Annual Registration Fees are charged to all players within the Club, this is currently set at £85 per player. These fees are paid at the start of the season and allow a player to play for the Club.

This fee covers:

  • Pitch costs
  • Club affiliation
  • Insurance
  • End of Season Trophies
  • League registration fees (Teams & Players)
  • Club development programmes (mainly Pathways scheme)

Monthly Subs | Team

Subs are charged by teams on a Monthly basis (some teams may take breaks during the year), these fees are paid to the Club but are then put into each teams budget or 'pot'.

This money is then used for:

  • Training venue hire
  • Referee fees
  • Tournament entry fees
  • Equipment costs
  • Kit top ups
  • Additional end of season trophies

Sponsorship | Club & Team

Sponsorship money comes in a couple of different forms. Club Sponsorship goes straight to the Club and is typically for a specific purpose. Team sponsorship again comes to the Club but is then paid to our kit suppliers for the required kit.

We are always on the look out for Sponsors to help fund the costs of running the Club and also for sponsoring our teams, if you or your business can help, please do get in touch with any of our Executive Committee and we'll be happy to help!

CLUB KIT

Ditton Minors FC are pleased to work with our preferred kit supplier to ensure that across the Club we have a consistent kit and in combination with our Kit Policy, ensure that all kit is worn at the right times.

Not only does Kit help us to look professional, but it helps players to identify club officials (alongside our ID badges).
